Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), one of the fastest growing combat sports in Brunei and the world, is a martial art form that focuses on ground fighting (grappling) and controlling opponents through the use of techniques that force them to submit. It also promotes the art of self-defense against stronger opponents.
In March 2018, the sultanate welcomed the hottest newcomer into the local BJJ scene: The Refinery – run by a husband and wife team and coached by Nobel Lee. Located in Kuala Belait, The Refinery also acts as an exclusive personal training studio, with a focus on helping clients achieve their goals and enabling them to create positive lifestyle changes.

The Refinery is open to people of all ages and levels, with a kids program that allows young ones to start as early as 5 years of age. Their Fundamentals class is there for those with little to no experience in martial arts, and there are also classes exclusively for women only.
To join, arrive 15 minutes before a class starts to register. The Refinery offers uniform rental and a one-week free trial for BJJ beginners.
