Learn BJJ in a clean and welcoming learning environment with a range of classes to suit various levels.
The Refinery offers a unique personal training experience in which clients can train exclusively in our private studio. Without the distractions of larger gym facilities, the focus is purely on helping our clients achieve their goals and enabling them to create positive lifestyle changes.
Training with Nobel has helped me to recover from several injuries and help to relief the pain associated with these injuries. I feel that I am now getting stronger, more flexible and improving my endurance. I’ve also lost some weight which is also a plus.
Nobel has given me more motivation to come to the gym as I get lazy when I train by myself. I feel much stronger now and he has helped to keep me active through my pregnancy which has made me feel more energetic.
EXCELLENT Based on 30 reviews Posted on Arie KrisnaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was on a business trip at Kuala Belait. Didn't know there was a JiuJitsu gym in town until my client told me. I didn't even bring my Gi during this trip. Decided to visit the place and apparently it's walking distance from the hotel that I stayed. The reception was very welcome and they provide me a fresh and clean Gi that I could rent, including the belt. All color belts are available for rent. The gym itself is very clean with enough space to roll. Coach Nobel who lead the class was very clear in his instructions, and his clam teaching style gives a great vibe to the gym. The other members also were very welcoming and friendly. Managed to drill and roll with couple of them and enjoyed every seconds of it. Highly recommend place at KB if you want to train BJJ, whether you're a beginner or already a seasoned practitioner. Would definitely revisit Refinery if I ever back visit this oil town. All the best for The Refinery 🔥🥋Posted on Antonio MotaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had the pleasure of visiting The Refinery Oil Town Jiu Jitsu (B5, 1st Floor, Bangunan Maju, Jalan Bunga Raya, Kuala Belait KA1131) and it was an excellent experience. As a BJJ professor, I was really impressed by the level of instruction, the attention to detail, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The coaches are passionate and knowledgeable, and the students showed great respect, discipline, and enthusiasm on the mats. Even as a visitor, I felt immediately at home and enjoyed some great training and rolls with the team. If you’re in Kuala Belait and want quality Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training in a professional yet friendly environment, I highly recommend The Refinery Oil Town Jiu Jitsu.Posted on joseph manningTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Felt welcome from day 1, I have been blessed to travel to many gyms around the world! This will be one I remember and hold dear to my heart! Get yourself and your family into jiu-jitsuPosted on Stelsz RnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jiujitsu has given me back so much confidence and a sense of safety as a woman in combat sports. I love being able to use my strength, move my body more freely, and keep learning new techniques in such a positive and uplifting space. What makes it even more special is the community and the support I feel every time I step on the mat. Prof. Nobel is incredibly patient and always lets me take the time I need to learn at my own pace, while still holding the space to guide me whenever I need help. Training here doesn’t just build skills—it makes me feel stronger, supported, and truly feel home. More women in Brunei should definitely give jiujitsu a try—you’ll feel stronger on and off the mat. 🥋💜Posted on Tom WTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. THE REFINERY – WHAT. A. PLACE! I’m not even sure I have the vocabulary left to describe how incredible this gym is — but I’ll try! From the very first moment I walked through the door, the atmosphere hit me like a wave. I was asked, “Any previous experience?” to which I sheepishly replied, “No.” Without missing a beat, Coach Nobel smiled and said, “Alright! We’ll look after you.” And did they ever! Since November ‘24, I’ve been training consistently — and people, let me tell you — this place completely transformed me. It has taken me from zero experience to fully addicted to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, all thanks to the incredible coaching and even more incredible community. The coaching style? Relaxed, razor-sharp, and relentlessly effective. It’s the perfect blend of chill and focus, which creates an environment where everyone, from first-timers to seasoned grapplers, feels supported, challenged, and inspired. But here’s the kicker: it’s not just about technique. The Refinery has brought people together from all walks of life and built a tight-knit tribe of people who lift each other up, push each other harder, and make training something you look forward to. It’s been a game-changer for my mental and physical health. In short? The Refinery isn’t just a gym. It’s a breeding ground for greatness. Show up. Try it out. Prepare to fall in love with BJJ.Posted on Rikiana MetussinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a great experience at The Refinery. From the moment I walked in, the environment felt so welcoming and supportive. I also really liked Professor Nobel's teaching style. He was calm, patient, detail-oriented and everything was explained so well, I learned so much. It was the perfect balance of professionalism with a warm community vibe. Can't wait to be back!Posted on Zy MTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I took the opportunity to train at The Refinery on a weeknight as I had a day off work sometime in the middle of the week. Being new to the sport and place, I always have the nerves to train at a different gym/academy, and this was my first time training jiujitsu at a different spot in Brunei. I was beyond impressed with the space— from the first step into the academy, I felt truly welcomed and the students there were respectful throughout. As a white belt I always have reservations about being able to follow steps when executing techniques from the get go. Professor Nobel’s instructions were easy to follow throughout; despite many steps to learn all within an hour, he was clear and articulate and more importantly very detail oriented. It was an overwhelmingly positive experience for me that I planned another weeknight drive the following week!Posted on aeny azahariTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A great place in KB town to learn BJJ even if you’ve never done combat sports before! I’ve taken 2 classes of Fundamentals BJJ on Tuesday and Thursday and the class is led by a Black belt holder; Noble Lee. When you first enter you’ll be greeted by the beautiful Carol who will ask you to sign a waiver. The place itself has a very clean and modern white aesthetic. Aircon available so no need to worry about Brunei heat! Bathroom/shower facility clean too. Class is about 1 hr and you’ll start with the usual BJJ warm ups (slow jog, knees, butt kick, side to side) and body exercises. Then you’ll essentially learn the skills of the day which you can practice with your partner or other friendly folks there. The last couple of mins will be rolling. Overall we enjoyed training there where instructions were very clearly given and easy to understood with careful guidance by the other senior BJJers and coach. Starts and finish on time (which I truly appreciate) and a welcoming atmosphere ☺️. Check them out!
